Four games to watch tomorrow from 12pm so get to the Nuns

The Nuns face Broadstreet in a Warwickshire derby tomorrow afternoon in an action-packed Saturday at the club. There will be four game throughout that afternoon with the U15s kicking off at 12pm against Barkers Butts then the Saxons face Broadstreet (pitch 1) at 1:30pm with the 1st team and Colts both playing at 3pm on the Stadium pitch and number 2 pitch. There will be an outside bar and Hog Roast on from 1:45pm to as well as food and drink available throughout the day.

Last weekend the Nuns went down 47-10 to Bridgnorth. It was a closely fought game in the first half and the Nuns missed a couple of scoring chances that would have kept them in the game when trailing 19-10 at half time. The game turned against them just 45 seconds in to the new half though with a red card for Tom Aherne. A further yellow card later reduced them to 13 and Bridgnorth extended their lead. Broadstreet lost out away to Newport 27-24 which has most likely finished their top two aspirations for the season. When the two sides met earlier in the year ‘Street took the spoils 25-10 and the Nuns will be keen to reverse that this weekend.

A big Welcome today to a host of Past Club Captains who have arranged a number of guests to enjoy the fixture and the U15s who are todays Focus Team.

Last week the Saxons went down to a 13-12 defeat with the last kick of the game at Bridgnorth. Despite a couple of late withdrawals through illness, it was great to see 3 Colts make their first step up to adult rugby this season.

The Colts entertain Old Leamingtonians at 3pm on Number 2 pitch in what will be a keenly contested fixture with both teams pushing at the top of the league.

Team news: the front row remains for what is has been for the majority of the season. Matt Foxon and Jack Robotham form a new second row partnership and Leigh Thompson comes back in at number eight. Adie Hall and Tom Aherne are unavailable from last week’s squad.

In the backline Sion Cowdy and Theo Knight miss out from last week through injury with Elliott Brown and Moses Liwaliwa coming.

Ed Taplin, George Wallis and Huw Thomas make up the bench.

Midlands Premier Round Up

Week 23 – 22/23 March

Under Friday night lights Lichfield won the relegation battle with Derby who remain bottom of the league. Scunthorpe stopped their losing run with a win over Sheffield. Luctonians kept up the pressure on the top with a win over Burton. Newport (Salop) beat their close rivals Broadstreet. Bridgnorth inflicted a heavy defeat on a much-changed Nuns line up. Bournville lost at Sandbach who eased their relegation worries with the win. Doncaster Phoenix stopped Syston’s winning run.

Week 24 - 30 March

With just 3 weeks to go, promotion and relegation issues remain unresolved. Scunthorpe (1) travel to Bournville (10) and in a close game should win. Luctonians (2) visit Derby (14) and will win. Newport (Salop) (3) go to Burton (11) - both sides need to win for different reasons - away win. Broadstreet (4) come to Liberty Way - at their best Nuns (7) could win. Bridgnorth (5) will be too strong for Sandbach (8). Sheffield (6) go down the M1 to Syston (13) and will return empty handed. Doncaster Phoenix (9) will see off Lichfield (12) but the Staffordshire side may take something from the game to ease their relegation troubles.
