The Nuns travel to Derby and the Saxons host Derby tomorrow afternoon as the 2018-19 league season comes to a close.

The 2018-19 season finishes for the Nuns this weekend as they travel to Derby, who are already relegated, and the side will be looking to finish off the season with a win after the disappointing loss against Burton last week. What the win over Broadstreet had 2 weeks ago was missing last week in a poor showing to round off home action for the season. Back in September the Nuns hosted Derby and started the season off with a 43-25 win and a repeat result will cement 7th place on the league. Derby are currently on a run of 12 defeats, most recently against Newport 54-17, and their last win was back in December.

The Saxons lost 31-12 to Burton away last weekend and will be looking to finish on a high with a home game over Derby. When they met on the first game of the season, they lost an entertaining game 57-41.

The Colts defeated Belgian touring side Dendermonde 26-19 last weekend and then in a re-arranged league fixture at Kenilworth on Wednesday evening they lost 29-22. They have no game this weekend.

Team news: two changes to the pack this week with Leigh Thompson missing out through injury and Jack Robotham unavailable. In come Adie Hall and Callum Grant-Smith at second row and back row respectively.

There are also a couple of changes in the backs with Huw Thomas starting his last game for the club at scrum half and Adam Huxford coming in for Theo Knight. Huxford will line up in the centre with Ben Kirby moving to full back.

Ryan Leake, Nick Smith and Tom Smitham make up the bench.

Midlands Premier Round Up

Week 25 - 6 April

Scunthorpe duly won at home, to Bridgnorth, but so did Luctonians over Doncaster Phoenix so the fight for top spot will go down to the last weeks fixtures. Newport (Salop) beat relegated Derby. Broadstreet bounced back with a win at Sandbach. Sheffield edged out Bournville by just 1 point. Nuns imploded at home to Burton. Lichfield lost at home to Syston, but other results meant both were relegated.

Week 26 - 13 April

Scunthorpe (1) go to Broadstreet (4) which won’t be easy, but they should do enough to retain top spot. Luctonians (2) go to relegated Lichfield (13) and will win by several. Newport (Salop) (3) wind up their season at Doncaster Phoenix (10) and will win. Bridgnorth (5) at home should beat Sheffield (6). Nuns (7) go to bottom of the table Derby (14) to round off a disappointing season. Burton (8) have got into the habit of winning and will beat Sandbach (9). Bournville (11) have lost their last 6 games but should end on a winning note against Syston (13).
