Respect the Ref, Avoid the Vest

Whether you’re here to cheer, coach, or chase the ball, we’re thrilled to have you. Before the action kicks off, let’s take a moment to talk about what keeps our club strong, safe, and spirited.

A Massive Thank You to Our Sponsors & Supporters
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to ALL sponsors and supporters of The Nuns, whether you’ve backed us with banners, biscuits, or just brilliant energy. We genuinely couldn’t do this without you. So please, support those who support us. They’re the unsung heroes behind every try, tackle, and team sheet.

Around the Grounds
As you make your way around the facility, please stick to the gravel pathways. We know grassy banks can be tempting shortcuts, but especially in wet weather, they’re more slip hazard than scenic route. Let’s keep boots dry and ankles intact.

Match Official Abuse (MOA): Zero Tolerance
This season, the RFU is clamping down hard on MOA across both Adult and Age Grade rugby. Warwickshire clubs have a proud record of respecting referees and opposition, let’s keep that tradition alive.
If someone in the Adult game receives a red card for MOA and is found guilty, they’ll be listed on an RFU webpage and monitored. Sanctions can be extended beyond the usual if the behaviour is deemed aggravated. So let’s keep the chat constructive and the passion positive.

Remember TREDS
When in doubt, channel your inner rugby philosopher and remember TREDS:

  • Teamwork.
  • Respect.
  • Enjoyment.
  • Discipline.
  • Sportsmanship.

It’s more than a slogan, it’s the backbone of our game.

Pitch Invasions: Not a Spectator Sport
Regulation 19.4.9 is crystal clear: unless you’re the physio or the referee gives you the green light, stay off the pitch. Unauthorized entry could result in an Interim Suspension Order (ISO) and no, that’s not a trendy new fitness class. It’s up to 4 weeks on the sidelines.
Clubs are responsible for ensuring players, coaches, members, and spectators behave appropriately. That means no abusive, threatening, or indecent behaviour and definitely no impromptu pitch appearances.

Meet the Respect Marshall
This season, Age Grade matches may feature a new sideline superhero: the Respect Marshall. Donning a hi-vis vest (not to be confused with a fashion statement), they’ll gently remind everyone to keep it respectful and rugby-like. Warwickshire RFU is trialling this initiative, and we’d love your feedback at season’s end.

So whether you’re here for the rucks or the roast rolls, let’s make today a celebration of everything great about our sport. Respect the ref, cheer with heart, and walk on the gravel, not the grass.

Enjoy the match and thank you for being part of The Nuns family.
Let’s make this season one to remember, for all the right reasons.
