After a delayed start to the season due to the summer heat wave the Nuns start the 2026-27 tomorrow with a fresh start. After the difficulties of last season, the club has been under taking a rebuild through the playing squad. A number of players have retired or moved on and a new beginning commences. There is no short term fix but as new players settle in to the squad as well as some returning players with experience the club begin the first steps to re-establishing itself.

The 1st team start a new campaign at level 6 with a trip to Leicester to take on Oadby Wyggestonians, who we last locked horns with when we completed a double during the promotion season in 2023-24. A new group of players will be travelling there this week but we look forward to getting back in to action. The team will also meet some sides for the first time with league games against Old Salts, Old Coventrians, Stamford and Shelford.

The Saxons also start their new season in Counties 4 with a local derby against Manor Park 2s. This, will sure to be a keenly contested fixture.
Preseason has been spent integrating new players, systems and adapting play. As we continue to build and gel we will looking to get into a more settled playing group compared to the changes that we went through last year.

Team news: the Nuns will give 1st team debuts to Jamie Ridgway who has recovered from a long standing knee injury since progressing from the Colts, Harvey Moss who has signed from Lichfield, Kyle White who joined from Daventry, Sosa Migan who joined midway through last season and Charlie Dade who has come through from the Colts last season. They join a number of players in the side who have represented the side over the last few season.

The Saxons also see a number of players returning to action or running out for the first time for the club. We welcome Elliot Stewart and Brennan Howe to the squad as well as welcome returns to action for Harry Beverley, since recovering from a leg/ankle break that ruled him out of last season, and Max Carter who is nearing full fitness after nearly two years of knee troubles.
