The 1st and 2nd team both play Burton this Saturday

The Nuns are in action at home for the last time this season as they welcome old foes Burton to Liberty Way. Both teams come into the game on the back of wins with Burton defeating Newport 29-26 and the Nuns won a Warwickshire derby 20-15 over Broadstreet. When the two sides met in December the Nuns were soundly beaten in a disappointing performance going down 44-13. If a win can be secured tomorrow, then the Nuns will have beaten every team in the league once this season apart from Scunthorpe and Bridgnorth which shows what the team is capable of when on their game. Nuns remain in 7th position with 61 points from 11 wins and 13 draws picking up 17 bonus points. Burton are 10th with 52 points from 9 wins and 16 bonus points.

The players must be given credit for last week’s win over Broadstreet. Hard work, determination and desire to stick together ground out the win despite late changes to the team. More debuts were given to young players which bodes well for the future.

A big thank you to our Sponsors:

Match Ball – Damian Ganley from A1 Rapid Couriers

Last week the Saxons went down to a 21-15 defeat against Broadstreet in a game that they again, were unlucky not to win.

The Colts suffered defeat to a strong Old Leamingtonians, 34-13. They entertain a Dendermonde on Sunday who are a touring side from Belgium. They will also be bringing U14 and U15 teams with games at 10am, 11 am and 12pm all on pitch 2.

Sunday is also the Clubs annual Mini festival, which is always a well-run and busy day, so if you get the chance why not come on down and see the starts of the future in action.

Team news: one change to the pack this weekend with Wills Messum returning in the second row and George Wallis shifting to the back row for the unavailable Callum Grant-Smith.

In the backline Elliott Brown is struggling with a number of niggles and Dylan Bale has picked up a shoulder injury. In come available Ben Kirby and Theo Knight at centre and full back respectively.

Ryan Leake, Nick Smith and Huw Thomas make up the bench.

Midlands Premier Round Up

Week 24 - 30 March

Scunthorpe got the narrow win at Bournville they needed to stay top. Luctonians thrashed the now relegated Derby. Newport (Salop) slipped up at Burton who now look safe from relegation. Broadstreet came to Liberty Way and an inspired Nuns side took the honours. Bridgnorth surprisingly lost to Sandbach. Sheffield couldn’t stop Syston from keeping their feint hopes of staying up alive. Doncaster Phoenix dealt Lichfield a blow in their fight to avoid the drop.

Week 25 - 6 April

With just 2 weeks to go, only 1 of the promotion/relegation issues has been resolved - Derby are relegated. Scunthorpe (1) will win at home to Bridgnorth (5) to keep their narrow lead at the top. Luctonians (2) host Doncaster Phoenix (8) - home win. Newport (Salop) (3) look to have blown their promotion chances but will beat Derby (14). Broadstreet (4) are already on the beach and will lose out at Sandbach (9). Sheffield (6) will beat Bournville (11) who may gain a point or two towards there relegation battle. Nuns (7) are out for revenge after the drubbing they got from Burton (10) earlier in the season and will get it. Match of the Day is Lichfield (12) v Syston (13). Both need the win, I fancy the home side.
