Rugger Rats are the youngest age group at Nuneaton RFC. We provide a safe, fun and friendly environment for children to begin learning the basics of rugby. Training is non-contact and open to both boys and girls. We implement games and training routines to get kids playing tag rugby.
The benefits of playing rugby include-
- Encourage Teamwork
- Improve Confidence
- Make Friends
- Develop Social Skills
We invite you to visit Nuneaton RFC and ‘Give it a try’.
Not sure if your little one will enjoy playing rugby? Don’t want to commit straight away. No problem.
The first 4 weeks are totally FREE. Just turn with your child in suitable clothing and join in the fun.
To help we have put together a collection of FAQs.
What age group is Rugger Rats for?
We coach ages 4-6 year olds from September to the end of April. Your child must be 4 years old and in reception year or year 1 at School. Unfortunately, due to insurance, we cannot coach younger children that are not in school or turn 4 after the start of September.
When does training start?
Training starts the first Sunday in September.
Sessions run from 10.30am to 11.45 (depending on the weather/temperature) so please arrive between to 10.15-10.30 to avoid keeping the kids hanging around for late arrivals.
What clothing will the children need?
To start with just wear comfortable sports clothes and trainers. After a few weeks the kit required is quite simple-
Boots - Rugby or football boots are fine. Please check that none of the studs are missing and they do not have sharp edges.
Warm top/jumper/tracksuit - Rugger Rats Hoodies are great.
Base Layers or T Shirt.
Shorts or tracksuit bottoms.
Jacket - We recommend a windproof and showerproof jacket or NRFC training top.
Drink - Do not forget the drink. We stop regularly to rehydrate the kids (and coaches).
We look forward to training the future stars of Nuneaton RFC.
