Only one side in action this week as the Saxons and Saracens cannot find opponents!!!

The Nuns are on the road again this week and will be looking to get themselves back on track at 13th placed Bedford Athletic having gone down 26-19 last week at bottom of the league Syston. It was a performance that lacked the accuracy and physicality that had seen the side defeat Sheffield the round previously. When the two sides met earlier this season, the Nuns won 32-28 in a game when the lead changed hands on several occasions. The Nuns will be looking to contain an Ath side that look to move the ball around and bring more control to the game tomorrow.

With Nuns loss last week and Sheffield’s postponement at Old Hales, Broadstreet have moved into 2nd position on 65 points with Sheffield on 64 in 3rd. Nuns losing bonus point moved them to 69. Bedford lost at Longton 20-5 and have won 3 games this season but have picked up a league high 16 bonus points to sit on 28 points and 9 from safety.
Last weekend it was the Saxons who led the charge for the club picking up a 53-0 win over Syston in the league, the Saracens lost 31-25 at Spartans 2s and the Colts lost 26-0 at Barker Butts. Unfortunately, Dudley Kingswinford have pulled out of the Saxons league game and the Saracens couldn’t get a fixture from the pool.

Team news: the pack sees one change at hooker with Dan Oselton coming in for Nick Smith and there are three changes in the back line. Rob Cook comes back in at outside centre, Theo Knight on the wing and loan signing Rhodri Adamson at full back. Tom Smitham is injured with Richard Johnston moving to the bench.

National 3 Midlands – Round-up

Week 19 - 11th February

Shock defeat for the Nuns at Syston, but they remain top. Old Halesonians v Sheffield postponed. Comfortable win for Broadstreet over Towcestrians. Another shock result - Birmingham & Solihull lose at Lichfield. Peterborough Lions march on after beating Sandbach. Derby beat Bridgnorth. Longton overcame Bedford Athletic.

Week 20 – 18th February

Bedford Athletic (12th) v Nuneaton (1st) - Nuns can hardly afford anymore slip ups. Must win game.
Birmingham & Solihull (4) v Longton (10) - B & S should see off an unpredictable Longton.
Bridgnorth v (11) v Lichfield (9) - Home advantage to tell
Broadstreet (2) v Derby (6) - Undefeated in their last 8 games- Street to win.
Sheffield (3) v Peterborough Lions (5) - Lions are another in form team, but I have a hunch Sheffield will stop them.
Syston (14) v Old Halesonians (7) - Syston to make it 3 wins in a row.
Towcestrians (8) v Sandbach (12) - Home advantage to tell.
