Nuns visit Bridgnorth for the first time tomorrow, KICK OFF @ 2.15PM Colts host Broadstreet in the Warwickshire Cup England V Scotland at 4pm

The Nuns make their first trip to Bridgnorth tomorrow looking to complete a league double over the Shropshire side who currently sit two points and one place above the relegation spots. They defeated Longton last weekend 26-15 which saw them swap places with their opponents. The Nuns were also victorious last weekend with a 21-12 win over Birmingham/Solihull despite playing 70 minutes with 14 men after a yellow then red card. Bridgnorth will be hoping to keep their place in the league having come up as champions of Midlands 1 last year and the Nuns expect them to be battling for everything in the game. They have picked up 9 wins and 12 defeats so far with 9 bonus points to sit on 45 league points. When the two sides met earlier in the season Nuns came out 21-14 winners.

This weekend will be the last game for three Nuns before they depart to New Zealand on Wednesday. John Graham, Rory Vowles and Dave Melville have agreed to play a season in South Canterbury for Geraldine RFC. This is a fantastic opportunity for the three of them and the club looks forward to watching their progress and then seeing how they develop as players upon their return later in the year. They are sure to enjoy the British Lions tour in some way to whilst ‘Down Under’.

The Colts are in action against Broadstreet at home in the Warwickshire Cup at 2.15pm. The Saxons and Saracens couldn’t get fixtures this weekend. Next Sunday the Saxons take on Stratford 2s in the Warwickshire Cup Final at Broadstreet RFC so look out for more details in the build up to that.

The club will be showing the England Scotland game at 4pm so why not come down for an afternoon of rugby.

Team news: there is one change in the pack with Umraan Dixon-Jadwat missing out with a slight thigh strain, Llyr Griffiths comes into the second row with Scott Makepeace moving to the back row. In the backline, Rory Vowles is suspended following his red card last week. Rhodri Adamson moves to fly half and partners Tom Smitham whilst Kane Nixon comes in at full back having re-joined the club from Leicester Lions at the end of February.

National 3 Midlands – Round-up

Week 21 - 4th March
Nuns remain top of N3M after their win over Birmingham & Solihull. Broadstreet narrowly beat Lichfield and remain in second. Sheffield lost to a late score at Sandbach. Peterborough Lions keep on winning - Syston their latest victims. Old Halesonians saw off Bedford’s challenge. Derby, at home, beat Towcestrians. Bridgnorth won at Longton.

Week 22 - 11th March
Bedford Athletic (13th) v Peterborough Lions (4th) - Lions go for their 9th consecutive win.
Birmingham & Solihull (5) v Old Halesonians (6) - B & S are not convincing but should win.
Bridgnorth (11) v Nuneaton (1) - Won’t be easy but Nuns to win and gain try bonus point.
Broadstreet (2) v Longton (12) - Street are another team going for their 9th consecutive win.
Derby (7) v Lichfield (10) -Two totally unpredictable teams. Lichfield to win.
Syston (14) v Sandbach (9) - Another two totally unpredictable teams. I just favour Bach.
Towcestrians (8) v Sheffield (3) - Sheffield can’t afford any more slip ups if they are to remain in the promotion hunt. Away win.
It looks like a 4-horse race for the top two places. Nuns are doggedly holding on to top spot, but Broadstreet and Peterborough Lions are in blistering form behind them. Sheffield have lost 2 of their last 3 games and can’t afford any more.
