The Colts play at home tomorrow at 1pm and then the 1st team in action on Sunday

The Nuns are in County Cup Semi Final action on Sunday as they travel to Newbold RFC to take on Broadstreet. It is a break from league rugby that will give both clubs opportunities to potentially rest some players or try out different combinations without the pressure of league rugby. The Nuns go into the game as current champions having seen off Newbold and Sutton Coldfield, who play in the other semi-final, last season to pick up the trophy. Broadstreet have already played one game in the competition when they saw off the challenge of Rugby Lions in the preliminary round but unfortunately the Nuns tie with Stratford was cancelled when the opponents pulled out.

With both teams in the same league they come into the game with similar records so far this season. Played 6, won 4 and lost 2 with Street in 5th on 19 points and the Nuns in 6th on 18 points with one less losing bonus point. It should be an entertaining game with a different mindset going in that a place in the final is at stake as well as local bragging rights. Last weekend they both picked up wins with the Nuns 30-11 over Syston and ‘Street, 22-17 at Burton.

The Saxons aren’t in action this weekend but last weekend’s 33-20 victory over Syston saw them move up the league to 5th.

The Colts are in home action tomorrow at 1pm as they take on Old Laurentians. They still remain unbeaten after 4 games with a 63-6 away win at Leamington last time out. Any extra support for them tomorrow would be received to see what the future of the club is looking like.

Team news: with the opportunity to rest some players, reward Saxons and try out new combinations it is a much-changed match day 22. Joji Volaikisuva and Callum Grant-Smith come in for their first games of the season in the front row alongside Ben Holmes. Sam Wallis is partnered by debutant Jake Arms, who joined the club from Coventrians this Summer, in the second row. Elliot Norman is another debutant on the flank alongside Danny Southall and Wills Messum.
In the backline, Tom Smitham is partnered by Richard Johnston. Dylan Bale has returned to fitness and teams up with Moses Liwaliwa and in the back 3 Sion Cowdy and Nemani Rayabo are joined by the last debutant, Portuguese back Simao Van Zeller.
