The Nuns head to Herefordshire to take on 3rd placed Luctonians whilst the Saxons hosts their 2s. The Colts are at home v Newbold.

The Nuns will be looking to put the disappointment of last weekend’s defeat behind them tomorrow as they travel to Herefordshire to take on Luctonians. The last time these sides met was back in the 2011/12 season when the Nuns were relegated from National 2. Lucs came down last season with a defeat in their last game of the season. They had started this year with a bang with thumping defeats over Syston and Lichfield, but they came undone last weekend going down 15-13 at Newport.

The Nuns went down 30-12 last weekend in a performance that petered out in the second half having kept themselves in the game at half time just 17-12 down playing into a stiff breeze. On a positive note the players have trained hard this week and will be looking to put a better showing out in what will be a tough challenge for the squad.

The Saxons are in home action and have a tough game against Lucs 2s. They will be buoyed by their display last weekend when they came away from Birmingham/Solihull with a 17-14 victory.

The Colts are at home against Newbold Colts at 3pm.

Team news: there are a couple of positional and personnel changes to the pack this week. Adie Hall moves from lock to a more familiar role at number 8, with Dave Melville and Todd Bullions on the flanks. Wills Messum comes in at lock to partner Sam Wallis.

In the backline Moses Liwaliwa and Dylan Bale swap for the only change here.

Ben Holmes and Leigh Thompson come on to the bench for the first time this season and will look to add some power when they come on.

Midlands Premier - Preview and Week 4

Week 3 - September 15

Newport (Salop) won the top of the table clash with Luctonians but failed to get a bonus point, so Scunthorpe jumped to top spot after their win over Derby. Sheffield didn’t concede a point in their win over Burton. Broadstreet spoiled the party at Bournville. Bridgnorth won at Syston whilst Doncaster Phoenix won an 82-point thriller (43-39) at Sandbach. The Nuns were very disappointing in their defeat to Lichfield.

Week 4 - September 22

Scunthorpe (1) have a tricky looking game at Doncaster Phoenix (7) and I fancy the home side. Newport (Salop) (2) shouldn’t have any trouble beating Syston (14). Luctonians (3) average 50 points a game - will be too much for the Nuns (10). Sheffield (4) go to Derby (11) and should win a close game. Broadstreet (5) to beat Bridgnorth (6). Sandbach (8) won’t have it easy at Lichfield (12). Bournville (9) go to Burton (13) and will win.
