Senior rugby back on this weekend after a week of rest.

The Nuns hit the final stretch of the season, four games left to go, with the first of three home games in a row as Bridgnorth visit Liberty Way. Both teams have a record of three wins from their last five games and whilst the Nuns secured a second bonus point win (25-24) in a row over Bournville two weeks ago Bridgnorth defeated Newport 18-7. Bridgnorth currently lie in 5th with 72 points and the Nuns 7th on 57. When the sides met earlier in the season the Nuns battled back from 28-7 down to 28-28 but conceded a late penalty to go down 31-28.
A big Welcome today to the Former Players, who are having their annual get together for lunch, and the U9s who are todays Focus Team.

Today’s Match Day Mascot is Harry Taylor from the U8s.

The Saxons are back in action after a free weekend too as they travel to Bridgnorth.

The Colts have no game.

Team news: the front row remains for what is has been for the majority of the season. IN the second row there is a debut for Jack Robotham and in the back row Arron Skyrme moves from the bench to back row. Scott Makepeace is now on rugby duty with the Navy and Leigh Thompson is nursing a rib injury from the Bournville game.

A couple of changes in the backline with Elliott Brown struggling with knee and ankle injuries Theo Knight replaces him in the centre and Ben Kirby is unavailable so Sion Cowdy moves from the bench to start on the wing and Jackson Hughes is at full back.

Ryan Leake, Moses Liwaliwa and Huw Thomas make up the bench.

Midlands Premier Round Up

Week 22 - 9 March

Scunthorpe went down to the in-form Syston as predicted. Whilst this league is competitive, there is no outstanding team as this result and Newport’s (Salop) defeat at Bridgnorth illustrates. Luctonians ended Bradstreet’s 10 match unbeaten run. Sheffield v Sandbach was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Nuns got a last gasp win at Bournville. Burton easily won at home to Lichfield. Derby couldn’t hold a rampant Doncaster Phoenix.

Week 2 – 22/23 March

A relegation battle under the lights on Friday night - Lichfield (12) v Derby (14) - should go to the home side. Scunthorpe (1) have lost their last 2 games but will beat Sheffield (6). Luctonians (2) have moved into the play off place and Burton (9) will not stand in their way. Newport (Salop) (3) clash with Broadstreet (4) and I just favour the away side. Bridgnorth (5) come to Liberty Way and I expect the Nuns (7) to continue their good form. Sandbach (10) to beat Bournville (8) and ease their relegation fears. Doncaster Phoenix (11) to stop Syston’s (13) revival.
