The Nuns welcome table topper Scunthorpe whilst the Saxons visit Banbury and the Colts go to Newbold.

The Nuns are at home tomorrow as they welcome league leader Scunthorpe to Liberty Way. Scunny have so far won 6 and lost 1 in the league so far, their reverse coming at the hands of Luctonians. Last weekend they defeated Newport 25-19 to see them move to 29 league points, 9 ahead of the Nuns. Last season the Nuns were 53-25 winners away and the home game was a thrilling 20 all draw.

The Nuns come into the game on the back of a 46-41 defeat up at Sandbach last weekend. The side will be looking to maintain their scoring threat but, tighten up control of the ball and minimise mistakes to stifle a dangerous attacking visitor if they are to have a successful afternoon. The two bonus points picked up last week maintained 6th position in the league with 20 points.

The Saxons travel to Banbury in the league looking to get back to winning ways after a 38-7 defeat last weekend at home to Hinckley.

The Colts away to Newbold this weekend. Last weekend they defeated Market Bosworth 38-17 in a friendly.

Team news: with a few injuries picked up last week and player availability there a number of changes to the side this week.

In the forwards Sam Greening returns to fitness at tight head prop with Ryan Leake moving to hooker for the concussed Dale Bowyer. Todd Bullions is ruled out with a pec injury from last week and is awaiting further diagnosis and its severity. He is replaced by the returning Leigh Thompson at number 8.

In the backline there is just one change with Theo Knight another layer ruled out with concussion from last weekend, his spot is taken by Richard Johnston.

Arron Turner returns to the squad on the bench alongside Ben Holmes and Tom Smitham.

Midlands Premier - Preview and Week 4

Week 7 - 20 October

Scunthorpe returned to top spot after their win over nearest rivals Newport (Salop). Bridgnorth added to Doncaster Phoenix’s misery. Luctonians lost at Sheffield. Broadstreet could only draw against Derby. Nuns lost out by 5 points in an 87-point defensive disaster at Sandbach. Lichfield couldn’t overcome Bournville. In a basement battle at Syston, Burton ran out comfortable winners

Week 8 - 26/27 October

In a Friday night game, I expect Derby (10) to see off the Burton (12) challenge. Scunthorpe (1) travel to Nuneaton (6) and if the Nuns defence turns up, I expect a close game. Bridgnorth (2) are on a good run and should win at Lichfield (9). Newport (Salop) (3) to beat Sheffield (8) who don’t travel well. Luctonians (4) to edge out a dangerous Bournville (7). Broadstreet (5) to win at Doncaster Phoenix (14) and Sandbach (11) at home should be too strong for Syston (13)
