The Nuns host Market Harborough this weekend for the last league game of the season and it is another top of the table clash. After the 47-25 win over Lutterworth last time out, the Nuns now sit in first on 94 points with Market Harborough and Lutterworth on 89 points. The performance against Lutterworth was one built on belief and power, having gone 14-0 down early in the game and also losing a player to injury as well as picking up a yellow card. The squad stuck to the plan and grew as the game went on to apply large amounts of pressure and then come away with points to deserve the win. Whilst that game was being played, Market Harborough earned themselves a win over Northampton Old Scouts to keep themselves in contention 23-11.
The two sides met in the first game of the season on a sunny day with the Nuns coming away with a 34-22 win but had to work for this with Harborough showing strength up front. The Nuns have improved as a squad since then and know that another stern test will be waiting. Market Harborough went on a 15 match winning run after the opening day defeat before a draw and loss in February. The Nuns winning streak is currently 13 which again points to two even sides.
The Saxons and Saracens don’t have games this weekend.
The Colts have packed their passports and boarded a bus this morning for their tour to Belgium.
Team news: in a show of continuity there is just one change to the squad that defeated Lutterworth last time out with Ben Kirby coming on to the bench in place of Harry Healy.
