The Nuns return to Liberty Way this weekend on the back of a 55-40 win at Olney last weekend, extending their winning run to 3 games. Built on a very strong first half performance it was pleasing to create and score a number of different and well worked tries as the squad develops it’s all round game. Not quite the perfect performance and the players have once again been in determined mood to improve at training this week.

We welcome Wellingborough this Saturday for a first league meeting between the clubs and as always the players will be looking to work hard and put on a strong showing for the supporters. Wellingborough currently lie 11th in the league with 4 points from a win and come into the game on the back of a 39-3 loss to Northampton Old Scouts. Last weekend’s victory for the Nuns took them up to 4th in the league and onto 23 points, just a point behind Market Harborough with Lutterworth still sitting top on 30 points.
The Saxons continue their league campaign with a home game against Syston and will be looking for a win after last weekend’s 43-24 away defeat to Bournville.

The Saracens don’t have a game this weekend but had a very entertaining afternoon last week in their game with Manor Park. They eventually went down 39-14.

The Colts have a home game kicking off at 12pm against Harbury. Last weekend they lost away at Stratford 31-19.

Team news: the coaches will be looking to see how the squad is looking overall and have made changes to see what players have to offer. In the pack there are first starts for Augy Clarke at hooker, Nick Walton in the second row and Martin Wood at number 8. Toby Dearden and Danny Southall move to the Saxons with James Lloyd and Ben Holmes moving to the bench.
In the backline, Ryan Preston starts for the injured Stewart Davies and Tak Chawadya starts on the wing in place of Ryan Southall.
New signing Fin Powell joins Holmes and Lloyd on the bench.
200 up!! Scrum half Tom Smitham will make his 200th first team appearance this weekend. A Mini & Junior product, Tom has been an ever present since coming into the senior sides mainly at scrum half with the odd appearance on the wing and one start at full back!! Congratulations to him on this milestone and here’s to a few more yet.
