The Nuns are back at home for the first time since early September. Can they maintain their good form?

It is a long-awaited home game for the Nuns this week after 5 away games in a row. They are back at Liberty Way to welcome 14th placed Old Halesonians a will be looking to keep the momentum of 4 wins in a row going. Last weekend the side put in a very strong all-round performance to defeat Scunthorpe 53-25 whilst Old Hales lost 17-62 to Newport. It has been a tough season so far for them after a choice of philosophy at the club. They will now be more reliant on their large M&J section of the club rather than bringing outside players in. Nuneaton moved up to 7th in the table last weekend with 17 league points. Old Hales have 3 points from 2 losing bonus points and 1 try bonus point.

The Saxons are away at Old Halesonians and go into the game on the back of a good 29-20 win over Syston 2s last weekend.

Team news: there are changes in each row of the pack with Jon Pateman resting a foot injury, Rudi Reid nursing a shoulder and Scott Makepeace on Navy Rugby duties. In come Sam Greening, Arron Turner and Tom Aherne respectively.

Just one change in the backs with Ryan Southall pulling a hamstring in training Richard Johnston coming in to replace him.

On the bench are Josh Greatrix, a hooker who has joined on loan from Moseley until Christmas, Dan Southall and Tyler Price.

Midlands Premier – Round Up

Week 6 - 14th October

Some heavy scoring in the league with the top 3 teams, Peterborough Lions, Birmingham & Solihull and Newport (Salop) all winning. Doncaster Phoenix slipped up going down to Bournville. Derby beat Bridgnorth by just 1 point. Nuns won their 3rd game in a row beating Scunthorpe. Sandbach shut out Longton 72 points to nil.

Week 7 - 21st October

Match of the week is 3rd placed Newport (Salop) at home to top the table Peterborough Lions. I fancy the Lions to stay top. Birmingham & Solihull (2) travel to Longton (9) and I expect them to come away with 5 points. Derby (4) against the struggling Scunthorpe (12) - a win for the home-side. Newbold (11) at home, to upset Sandbach (5). Doncaster Phoenix (6) have lost their last 2 games but should see off Bridgnorth (13). Nuns (7) play only their second home game of the season and need a bonus point win over rock bottom Old Halesonians to maintain the momentum. Lichfield (10) come off a thrashing and Bournville (8) will take advantage.
